BrightCap Ventures leads a €2m investment in WOOM, a Madrid-based data-driven company for women’s health. The round is joined by Begin Capital.
Founded by ex-Google and eBay executives, Laurence Fontinoy and Clelia Morales, WOOM has established a strong position in the Spanish-speaking world by building a vibrant community, already active in 7 countries. By combining biometrics, as well as lifestyle and women’s cycle data, WOOM’s powerful algorithms have helped more than 60,000 women conceive. The current round will accelerate WOOM’s geographic expansion and product development, empowering more women to make informed decisions about various health issues and helping health and wellness-focused companies provide better service to those women.
Elina Halatcheva, Partner at BrightCap Ventures commented: “We are very excited to welcome WOOM’s team to BrightCap’s family. We have strong confidence in the founders’ expertise in building active communities and solving clear women’s health challenges with a data-driven, customised solution. We are also proud to have attracted a European start-up to build a team in Bulgaria, leveraging the tech talent here.”
“We are very happy to close this round with a great business partner like BrightCap Ventures, who will help us accelerate and scale our growth plans, based on innovation and machine learning solutions. Our aim is to continue contributing and generating impact through products based on next generation algorithms, which will help us multiply the scope of knowledge and understanding of women’s health” said Laurence Fontinoy, CEO and co-founder of WOOM.
